HAI Guide ("we", "our", or "us") operates the HAI Guide mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. Please read this policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address — used for authentication and account recovery.
- Name — optionally provided by you or retrieved from Google Sign-In.
- Google account data — if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture URL from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
2.2 Location Data
Our App's core functionality relies on your location. We collect:
- Precise GPS coordinates (latitude, longitude) while a tour is active.
- Speed and heading to determine your travel mode and optimize narration timing.
- Reverse-geocoded area names (city, neighborhood) to provide contextual narrations.
Location data is collected only while you are actively using the App during a tour session. We do not track your location in the background when a tour is not active.
2.3 Preferences and Interests
To personalize your experience, we collect:
- Your selected interest categories and sub-interests (e.g., history, architecture, food).
- Your preferred narration style (casual, informative, or storytelling).
- Language preference.
- Food preferences and dietary restrictions (if you enable restaurant recommendations).
- Kids mode configuration (if enabled).
2.4 Usage Data
We automatically collect certain information about how you use the App:
- Narration history — the content generated for you, including points of interest visited and narration text.
- Topics you interact with (e.g., tapped follow-up questions).
- Tour session metadata (travel mode, duration).
- Device local time and timezone.
2.5 Subscription Information
If you subscribe to HAI Guide Pro, your purchase is processed through the app store (Google Play or Apple App Store) and managed by RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status and tier but do not have access to your payment card details or billing address.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and personalize the service — generate AI-powered audio narrations tailored to your location, interests, and preferences.
- Improve narration quality — understand which topics you engage with to deliver increasingly relevant content.
- Authenticate your account — verify your identity via email OTP or Google Sign-In.
- Manage subscriptions — track your subscription tier and free-tier usage limits.
- Improve the App — analyze aggregated usage patterns to fix bugs and develop new features.
- Communicate with you — send account-related emails (e.g., OTP codes). We do not send marketing emails.
4. AI-Generated Content
HAI Guide uses third-party AI services (Anthropic Claude) to generate narrations and OpenAI for text-to-speech conversion. When generating narrations:
- Your location, interests, narration style, and recent interaction history are sent to the AI provider to create personalized content.
- We do not share your name or email address with the AI provider.
- AI-generated narrations are stored in our database to avoid repetition and improve future content.
5. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with the following third-party services that are essential to the App's functionality:
- Anthropic — receives contextual data (location, interests, preferences) to generate narrations. Subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
- OpenAI — receives narration text for text-to-speech conversion. Subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
- OpenStreetMap / Overpass API — receives your coordinates to find nearby points of interest. No personal data beyond coordinates is shared.
- Google Cloud Platform — our backend infrastructure and data storage provider.
- RevenueCat — manages in-app subscriptions. Receives your email and subscription status. Subject to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- SendGrid — delivers transactional emails (OTP codes). Receives your email address only.
6. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers hosted on Google Cloud Platform. We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS) for all communications.
- JWT-based authentication with tokens stored securely on your device.
- Database access restricted to authorized backend services only.
While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
- Account data is retained for as long as your account is active.
- Narration logs are retained to improve service quality and avoid content repetition.
- Location data associated with narration logs is retained as part of your tour history.
You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 9).
8. Children's Privacy
HAI Guide is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The "Kids Mode" feature is designed for parents to configure content filtering for their children and is operated under parental supervision. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us so we can promptly delete it.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate data.
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and all associated data.
- Data portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent — revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings (this will limit App functionality).

10. Location Permissions
You can control location access through your device settings at any time:
- Allow while using the app — location is collected only when the App is open and a tour is active.
- Deny — the App will not be able to provide location-based narrations.
We request location permission only when needed and clearly explain why it is required before asking.
11. Analytics and Tracking
HAI Guide does not use third-party analytics SDKs, advertising trackers, or tracking cookies. We do not collect advertising identifiers. Internal usage metrics are collected solely to maintain and improve the service.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Effective date" above. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
